Twenty-two plus miles of rough terrain, four Minnesota female veterans, mosquitos, comradery, rain and different background makes for 5 days of outdoor enjoyment that can only be experienced, not explained.
Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Susan, Debra, Corean, and Amy met on a Wednesday in June not knowing anything about the other, except they were veterans. By the end of day one, laughter broke the night silence. At the end of trip, the four veterans met at a local restaurant for hot coffee and tasty food that wasn’t carried in their packs.
Wilderness Inquiry, partnering with DAV of Minnesota provided excellent guides, a safe environment and the presence for these veterans to share about themselves, life experiences and enjoy the outdoors. It was the first time ever hiking with their food, shelter and clothing on their backs for fun.
While relaxing by the fire, the group agreed, they would welcome another hiking trip with the guides from Wilderness Inquiry as well as hiking together as a group.
