Northwest MN Transportation Program

Serving Beltrami, Hubbard, Traverse, Polk Counties, and the surrounding area

We are here to help Veterans get to important VA appointments to maintain their health and livelihood. The Northwest Transportation Program serves ambulatory, non-wheelchair-bound Veterans to and from medical appointments. Four vehicles are stationed in Bemidji, Park Rapids, Wheaton, and Crookston.

Each area has various dates they drive. We operate on a first-come, first-serve basis and fill up quickly. Scheduling your ride as early as possible increases our ability to support you and assist with transportation.

Transportation is provided to the Fargo VA, Bemidji Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) as well as VA referred community care appointments based on the availability of volunteer drivers. Special transportation requests are taken on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on volunteer driver availability.

To schedule a ride, call Daniel at 855-277-9787.

Meet your Northwest Transportation Coordinator Daniel Wood!

Daniel Wood retired from the Air Force in 2001 after 21 years as a Flight Engineer. He moved his family to Minnesota where he owned and operated his own resort. After 14 years he decided to retire again. In 2013 Daniel, working alongside Becker County Veteran Service Officer and DAV of Minnesota leadership established the first veteran transportation program in the state.

Dan works closely with County Veteran Service Officers and DAV Chapters as his vehicles are spread out over the Northwest. Dan is proud of the opportunities DAV Transportation provides to Veterans living in rural Minnesota.
