Serving Northeast MN for appointments at the VA Clinic in Superior, WI

The Northeast Transportation Program serves ambulatory, non-wheelchair-bound Veterans to and from medical appointments. DAV MN shares an office with DAV WI staff and works together to schedule transportation for area veterans. Between DAV MN and DAV WI, there are 5 vehicles stationed at the Twin Ports, Hibbing & Ely VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) to serve North East Minnesota veterans.

DAV of Minnesota shares an office with DAV of Wisconsin staff and work together to schedule transportation for area veterans. Between DAV of Minnesota and DAV of Wisconsin there are 5 vehicles stationed at the Twin Ports, Hibbing & Ely VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) to serve Northeast Minnesota veterans.

Transportation to the Minneapolis VA Medical Center is available on a needed basis. Special transportation requests to community care appointments and the St. Cloud Medical Center Rehabilitation drop-off based on availability of volunteer drivers.

Meet your North East Transportation Coordinator Daniel Welsand!

Daniel Welsand started his military career in the U.S. Navy in 1989, serving until 1992 when he was honorably discharged. After the service, he graduated from Fond Du Lac community college in 1995 with an Associate of Arts Degree and transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1996. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and Marketing in 2003.

Dan brings DAV of Minnesota over 30 years of administrative experience. He started the North East Transportation Program on July 13, 2015, and is proud to serve and assist area veterans. Dan is also heavily involved in his local DAV Chapter 6 serving as their Adjutant and participating in chapter events throughout the Northeast.

In his spare time, Dan plays for the Minnesota Warriors, a disabled veteran hockey team designed to promote physical and mental health through physical sport and comradeship. He also bartends at his local VFW!
