Foundation History
Providing the financial resources to support quality programs, services, and projects for Veterans across Minnesota.
Member leaders with DAV of Minnesota recognized the need for a nonprofit function within the organization and in 1993, formed the DAV of Minnesota Foundation. The goal at that time remains what it is today; to provide financial support and ensure the continued services and programs for Veterans and their families. Through board action, the Foundation may also grant funds to projects and causes that advance the mission of the DAV of Minnesota, Department.
The Foundation was initially established as a 501(c)19, but in 2019 it received the formal designation of 501(c)(3), and is exempt from tax under Title 26 U.S.C., Section 501(c)(3). Contributions made to the Foundation are tax deductible pursuant to this designation.
Since 1993, the DAV of Minnesota Foundation has granted more than three million dollars to Veterans and programs throughout Minnesota.
Foundation Governance
Administration of the key business operations is conducted by DAV of Minnesota Foundation personnel on a volunteer basis.
The DAV of Minnesota Foundation supports Veterans and their families in Minnesota through the support of programs that promote their physical and psychological well-being. In order to maximize the direct support of these programs, the Foundation takes care to keep administrative costs low.
Members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors contribute to this objective through voluntary service, without compensation. They conduct all business with a high standard of ethics, applying their best efforts, skills and resources to ensure that both donors and grant recipients receive the care that they deserve.
