
Zion National Park Hike and Explore
Follow the ancient paths where people have walked for thousands of years. Gaze up in wonder at the massive sandstone cliffs glowing in shades of cream, pink, and red against a brilliant blue sky. Stand between the towering, smooth walls of a narrow slot canyon as they stretch high above you. Zion’s unique plants and wildlife will captivate you as you connect with the land’s rich history and embrace the excitement of present-day adventures.
This is a Hiking trip consisting of physical activities on unlevel ground!

What to Expect
TERRAIN/ROUTE CHOICES: Zion National Park offers a wide range of hiking route options from very Moderate to difficult. Come prepared for all types of hikes but the group will select the trails to make sure we account for everyone’s abilities.
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: You will be hiking in varied terrain and weather conditions. No previous experience is needed to complete this trip.
WEATHER: Due to different elevations and the time of year, temperatures can vary and change quickly throughout the day. We have had days with 70’s and sun or rain down to 30’s and snow depending on elevation and location.
WHERE YOU WILL SLEEP: At night, we will sleep in a home at the foothills of Tabernacle Dome on the west side of the Park, where you can enjoy views of Kolob Canyon from the hot tub or hike trails right off of the property. Depending on the weather, you can get views of waterfalls if it’s raining or magnificent sunsets and pinks and reds on the rocks of the canyon.

Itinerary
Day 1:
You will be flown down to St George Utah where you will be picked up by DAV of MN staff. You will then be transported to the house where we will be staying for the entire trip. You will be given the chance to settle in and get to know your fellow trip mates before we start our hikes.
Day 2:
Day Two we will head Hike trails that are connected to the property where we are staying. We’ll explore caves and cliffs while hiking through sage brush and bushy terrain. We’ll then head north to Wildcat Canyon Trailhead and hike a short, easy hike to Northgate Peaks, where we’ll have a chance to climb one or both peaks and enjoy views of the canyon below.
Day 3:
Day three we will head to the main part of Zion National Park and hike the Emerald Pools. This area offers amazing views with opportunities to walk behind waterfalls and view different wildlife from the park.
Day 4:
Day Four we will head back to the main park and, as long as we are able to draw a permit, hike Angels Landing, one of the most famous and difficult hikes in America. For those who don’t want to hike that trail, or if we aren’t lucky enough to draw a permit, we will have multiple other trail opportunities like Weeping Rock Trailhead or The Narrows.
Day 5:
Day 5 we will pack up and drop everyone off at the Airport for their flight home.
