The DAV of Minnesota sponsored for the 8th straight year, the 2015 Golf Classic fundraiser at the Wilds Golf Course, Prior Lake, MN. The event held June 3, 2015 attracted over 144 men and women golfers. The spectacular golf outing with occasional rain showers, was a tribute to the men and women that have and are serving our country, explained Stephen Whitehead,
Executive Director of the Foundation. The proceeds from the Golf Classic go to the purchase of new vans used in transporting veterans to and from their medical appointments at the MN VA Medical Centers. Sponsorships for the event were at an all-time high and we are certainly thankful for the sponsors/donors as they have in the past and will continue to do so in 2015-2016, play a significant role in our DAV veteran’s transportation program success.

Harry Wisdom, master of ceremony, initiated the event with the posting of the colors by the Roseville MN VFW and American Legion Post. A bugler, bagpiper and patriot singer’s complimented the opening as all participants stood at attention and sang “God Bless America” in a light rain.
In addition to the golf outing, there was a Silent Auction at the event, which too was extremely successful and with record results, explained Dean Ascheman DAV MN Treasurer. The generous donors to the silent auction are also very much appreciated. This year we had over 75 items donated such as; Golf packages at some of
Minnesota’s finest golf courses. Get away packages at hotels and casinos across the state. Dining at many of Minnesota’s finest restaurants. Minnesota twins suite, tickets, baseball player autographed hats, bats, baseballs. Famed prints and much more…
At the dinner banquet Executive Whitehead stated that “in addition to the sponsors and donors, I sincerely thank our DAV Department staff and key organizing/coordinating volunteers/DAV members, Dean Ascheman, Harry Wisdom, and Sr. Vice Commander Mick Aguirre for their time and talents.” “Dean and Harry have been involved with this event since its inception eight years ago”. “We look forward to seeing you at next year’s Golf Classic.”
