Newest Transportation Program Expansion: Polk County

The DAV of MN Northwest Transportation Program is expanding. This week the Polk County Commissioners voted to support the DAV of MN in expanding our free ride service to Veterans in Polk and surrounding areas. This expansion was first made possible by the Fargo VA agreeing to expand their partnership in the Northwest Region with DAVMN.

The program will start with a Ford Flex being moved from Park Rapids to Crookston, MN. The success of the Park Rapids program has made it so they are ready for a brand new 10pax Ford Transit, which will be delivered in July. The purchase of the Transit by the DAV of MN Foundation freed up a Ford Flex to expand our program to assist even more Veterans in a new area.

There was currently no formal means of transportation available for Veterans in Polk County, with Veterans relying on some volunteers using their personally owned vehicles to transport Veterans, when they could. The DAV of MN’s new program will provide greater access to VA Healthcare, while relieving the volunteers from the wear and tear on their own vehicles.

The program will be run by the DAV of MN’s very own, Dan Wood. Those interested in volunteering or in need of transportation can contact Dan at: 1-855-277-9787
