New Fargo VAMC Van to Transport NW MN Veterans

ch 7August 15th the Veterans Administration (VA) from Fargo issued a new 9 seat van to North Central Minnesota Chapter # 7 Disabled American Veterans (DAV) it will be used to transport Veterans to Fargo VA for appointments.  Listed above are some of our drivers Lt – RT standing Richard Habstritt, Joe Schorz, Robert Saddoris coordinator/scheduler (non driver), Larry McConkey, Dick Labraaten and Chapter # 7 Commander David Sterr (non driver) Front row Lt-Rt David Larkin, Allen Bjelland and Billy Ayers who has 500 hours driving. Not present Glenn Aagard, Michael Davis, Joel Anderson, Scotty Allison CVSO driver.

This van was purchased with a $10,000 donation from Fergus Falls DAV Chapter #25, the balance from State of Minnesota DAV Foundation. The title is then given to VA hospital in Fargo VA who then issued it to our Chapter. The VA takes care of all expenses to include insurance. Drivers are volunteers as is Saddoris. At this time we go to Fargo one time a week; in future we plan to go two times a week. We stop in Solway, Shevlin, Bagley, Fosston, Mahnomen, and Ada. There is no cost to the Veteran to ride. Our Dispatcher is Dan Wood in Detroit Lakes 855-277-9878. Our other van was too small for our area so it went to Wheaten and will be used to carry Veterans to the Fargo hospital.

Respectfully Submitted Robert  Saddoris, DAV Chapter 7 North Central
