MN DAV Chapter 10 Changes Name to Recognize Distinguished World War II Veteran

The National Organization of the Disabled American Veterans has unanimously approved the request to officially change the name of the local Mankato DAV Chapter 10 to the “ Lyle C. Pearson Sr. Chapter 10”.

Lyle Pearson was a highly decorated WWII bomber pilot who was shot down over Italy in 1944, captured by the German Army and held a prisoner until the end of the war. Upon his return from the war Lyle became very active in the DAV Chapter locally as well as at the State and National level and rose to the office of National Commander of the DAV in 1975.

The Chapter members are extremely proud and honored to have the DAV Chapter named after Lyle. “Lyle was the mainstay of our chapter for over 60 years during which time was built currently to over 600 members and has provided services to countless disabled veterans and their families throughout our area.” “He is dearly missed but will never be forgotten his dedication and hard work for our comrades in arms” said Hank Sadler, Retired Nicollet County CVSO.
