DAV Teams up with local farm to host Military Appreciation Family Day at the Farm

The Disabled American Veterans of Minnesota (DAV of MN) is excited to announce the second annual “Military Appreciation Family Day at the Farm”. This will be a day set aside to thank our Disabled American Veterans, who continue to sacrifice past their days of active service and a family day for all military in our community. Military members (Active Duty, Reservists/National Guard, Retired) and their families are invited to come, as well as the general public.
The event will take place on a private farm that has volunteered to open up their property for a delightful day of great food, encouraging speakers, live music, hay wagon rides, an obstacle course for the kids and up-close views of their farm animals.
Date: Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 10am – 4pm.
Gates open at 9:30am
Location: Sutton Ridge Farm, 1500 West 200th Street, Jordan, MN 55352
Cost: Military members-free, military member families $7, general public $14, children 5 and under are free.
Jennifer Jensen, Farmer, owner & operator of Sutton Ridge Farm states, “We, along with our community, are seeking to be a blessing to our military veterans and thank them with a day of honor and enjoyment.”
Our goals for this year’s event include:
- Support the families of our troops and all Veterans
- Present available resources for Veterans
- Display and promote patriotism in our community
- Increase public awareness of the DAV of MN, its mission, and the function of the DAV
- Thank the men and women who are or have served in our military
- Be a place where veterans can connect & foster relationships with others who served our country
Hear speakers from: WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and the Global War on Terrorism
Flag raising ceremony by the Jordan Vet’s Color Guard
Live music on stage- performances by International Jazz artist, Johnny Holliday and Willie
Hay wagon rides
Boot Camp for the Kids- compete in a 60 foot-long obstacle course with a inflatable climbing wall
Service dogs welcome-enjoy a doggie treat at the Service Dog tent
Catering by Mr. Pig Stuff (BBQ pork and chicken)
Farm activities: sheep shearing, cow milking, woodturning, corn shelling
