Greetings all! Time is flying by and March is coming to a close. As March winds down, so does the MN Legislative Session. We are now under two months left before they will close the session. While two months may not seem like crunch time, it is certainly getting there for legislative purposes. So, with the legislative clock winding down, I would like to make one more call to my fellow DAV of MN members to contact me with any legislative concerns, ideas, questions or suggestions for what you would like to see the DAV of MN pursue for our Veterans in the waning days of the 2015 legislative session. You can reach me at 651-788-3186 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
On the national side I can report some progress connected to the DAV’s efforts in Washington, D.C. While the DAV of MN delegates were in Washington we met with our members of Congress. One of the areas we emphasized was the need to ensure our female Veterans are getting the care they need at our VA’s. It appears DAV’s message was heard loud and clear by a bipartisan group of Legislatures. The group, including 1st District Rep. Tim Walz, signed a letter calling for the VA’s inspector general to investigate the services offered to our women Veterans and identify areas for improvement.
This is a great example of the impact we, as an organization, can have to better the care for our fellow Veterans. It also demonstrates how powerful our organization is when we speak out with one voice. The lawmakers, state or national, will listen to us. If you have a message you think we should be sending to our representatives, please don’t hesitate to contact me email@example.com or 651-788-3186.
YITB, Trent Christian Dilks.
