Holly Rahe, a veteran from New Ulm, MN, will receive a vehicle on Veterans Day at the Burnsville Progressive Insurance Office. Holly, a former Navy Intelligence Analyst will receive the vehicle as part of Progressive’s third annual Keys to Progress® event which will provide more than 130 veterans and their families with newly-refurbished vehicles. This is once again the single largest one-day vehicle donation for the program, exceeding last year’s record donation. Since the beginning, the Keys to Progress® event is responsible for donating reliable transportation to over 300 deserving military families and organizations.
Holly applied for this donation with the assistance of her County Veteran Service Officer, and Disabled American Veteran Past Senior Vice Commander and a Chapter 15 member, Greg Peterson. Greg first came into contact with Holly in November of 2014 when she contacted the Veteran Crisis Line after struggling with housing, employment and transportation. Holly was connected to various service providers and Veteran Service Organizations who worked together to assist her and her family with their pressing issues.
Holly, her fiancé and children are currently live in New Ulm, successfully maintaining their home and renewing their lease after a year of sustainable housing. Both she and her fiancé have jobs which allow them to get her children back and forth to school and other activities. “I do sleep soundly at night knowing we have a warm, comfortable home to call our own,” Holly stated. “We always have food and clothes and, most importantly, my children are safe and happy. That is the true blessing. I am an adult, I can survive, but the comfort, security and stability they have now is priceless to me.”
