Courtney Hoefener, Retail Director for Hurrycane LLC, has been instrumental in providing Hurrycanes (those folding canes you often see on TV) to MN DAV members and disabled veterans for the past four years. Over 6,000 Hurrycanes have been donated by Hurrycane LLC and distributed throughout MN thanks to Courtney and her team. At times we have provided some to border chapters in Wisconsin and North Dakota, explained Dean Ascheman, Past DAV MN Department Commander. He went on to say. “In June, Courtney notified us once again indicating there were another 1000 Hurrycanes available to us to distribute to disabled veterans. I volunteered to contact Past National Commander Dick Marbes in Green Bay Wisconsin to inquire whether the Wisconsin DAV organization would like to accept the generous offer. Dick quickly accepted the offer and found a volunteer to drive across Wisconsin to Greenfield, MN to load up the Hurrycanes and transport them back to Green Bay. Bob Erickson Past Department Commander, St. Paul Chapter 2 member Ken Gibson, and I were on hand to assist in loading.” The 1st question Dick (an avid Green Bay Packer fan) asked was, “are there any green or yellow canes in the shipment? The answer was clearly NO, however, there were a few Viking purple and Chicago Bear blue ones in the shipment.
Mr. Marbes, in a note to Ms. Hoefener stated “Your product is very unique, and for those disabled veterans who have received them in the past, they moved into good use quickly…as I know these will also. Again, Thanks for your generosity to our veterans.”
Thanks to Hurrycane LLC, MN DAV, and PNC Marbes and his team, many of our DAV members and other disabled veterans will enjoy a better quality of life with the “support” of a Hurrycane.
