DAV Ch. #32 Sponsors a Clothing Drive with Martin County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon

In May 2015, Fairmont DAV Chapter #32 sponsored a clothing drive with the Martin County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon organization. Cash received from the clothing drive is being used by the DAV chapter to serve our injured or ill veterans in Faribault, Martin, Jackson, and Nobles Counties.  The Martin County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is using the cash received to help bring service members from Martin County all the way home by creating awareness for the purpose of connecting Service members and their families with community support, training, services and resources.

The success of the clothing drive was attributed to the community for providing the used clothing and the many volunteers, explained Gary Reutzel, Senior Vice Commander of Chapter #32. He went on to say “23,000 pounds of used clothing was collected from the 10 green DAV bins located in Faribault, Martin, Jackson, and Nobles Counties.” “In addition, a three day clothing drive May 2-4, 2015 was held in the Five Lake Centre Mall parking lot in Fairmont.” “Volunteers from the Chapter and Beyond the Ribbon were present during the weekend event to help load the donated bags of clothing into the DAV truck that was later taken to Savers for weighing resulting in each organization receiving approximately $4600.00.
